Asiedu Nketiah Calls for Safety and Community Support as Floodwaters Sweep Through Accra

National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has expressed concern over the flooding that hit parts of Accra on Monday morning, urging residents to prioritize their safety and support vulnerable members of their communities.

In a message shared as heavy rains left several roads and communities inundated, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah said his thoughts were with families affected by the flooding.

“Accra has taken on a lot of water this morning, and my heart is with every family caught in it,” he said.

The NDC Chairman cautioned residents against risking their lives to protect property, stressing that no material possession is worth a human life.

“Please put safety first, nothing you own is worth more than your life,” he stated.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah also called on Ghanaians to show solidarity during the emergency by checking on neighbours, particularly the elderly and children who may require assistance.

“Check in on your neighbours, especially the elderly and the young ones,” he urged.

He further acknowledged the efforts of emergency responders, volunteers and individuals assisting flood victims across affected communities.

“To everyone already out there helping, thank you. Stay safe,” he added.

The appeal comes as parts of the capital continue to deal with the effects of Monday morning’s heavy rainfall, which caused flooding in several areas and disrupted movement for commuters.

Residents in affected communities have been advised to remain alert, avoid floodwaters and follow guidance from emergency and disaster management officials as response efforts continue.
