Northshore Apparel GH LTD has achieved a major international milestone after receiving certification from Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP), a development that firmly places the Savelugu-based company on the global map of ethical, responsible, and export-ready apparel manufacturing.
The WRAP certification (#140034), valid from June 12, 2026,to June 12, 2027, was awarded following a rigorous independent audit of the company’s full production operations at its Savelugu facility in the Northern Region. The audited areas included fabric receiving, cutting, sewing, finishing, packing, quality control, and dispatch.
For Northshore Apparel, the achievement is more than a certificate on the wall. It is a powerful statement that quality apparel can be produced in Northern Ghana for the global market while respecting workers, protecting communities, promoting inclusion, and meeting internationally accepted standards for ethical manufacturing.
WRAP is widely recognized as the world’s largest independent certification program for ethical and socially responsible manufacturing in the apparel, footwear and sewn products sectors. Its certification verifies that a production facility complies with 12 key principles covering lawful and humane labor practices, prohibition of forced and child labor, freedom of association, workplace health and safety, fair compensation, responsible working hours, environmental responsibility, customs compliance, and ethical business conduct.
In practical terms, the WRAP certification means Northshore Apparel has met internationally accepted social compliance, workplace safety, labor, environmental, and ethical manufacturing standards required of serious players in the global apparel value chain. It also gives international brands and buyers confidence that garments produced in Savelugu are not only high-quality but also produced under responsible, independently verified conditions.
Mr. Mohammed Nurideen, Chief Executive Officer of Northshore Apparel GH LTD, described the certification as a proud moment for the company, its workers, Savelugu, the Northern Region, and Ghana.
“This certification is independent confirmation of what our people deliver every day. It tells the world that garments made in Savelugu are made responsibly, made ethically, and made to compete anywhere on earth,” he said.
The achievement is expected to significantly strengthen Northshore Apparel’s appeal to international buyers, sourcing companies, development partners and government institutions interested in responsible industrialization, ethical supply chains and inclusive job creation.
Located in Savelugu, Northshore Apparel GH LTD is Ghana’s first regenerative, zero-waste apparel manufacturing hub. The company’s operating model combines world-class garment production with environmental stewardship, inclusive employment and community transformation. Guided by its three-baobab philosophy of People, Planet and Prosperity, Northshore is building a manufacturing identity that places human dignity and sustainability at the center of industrial growth.
The WRAP certification also has significant implications for employment and social inclusion in Northern Ghana. With the capacity to employ up to 10,000 workers, Northshore Apparel is well positioned to become one of the region’s most important employment engines. The company’s workforce model is expected to create opportunities for young people, women, and persons living with disabilities, including members of the deaf community.
This is particularly significant in a region where limited industrial employment opportunities have often contributed to youth unemployment, economic vulnerability and rural-urban migration. By creating decent jobs locally, Northshore Apparel offers many young people the opportunity to gainemployable skills, earn a dignified income and build careers without necessarily leaving the north in search of opportunities elsewhere.
The company’s inclusive approach also makes the certification more meaningful. Beyond production targets and export ambitions, Northshore Apparel is fostering a workplace culture that recognizes the abilities of marginalized groups and opens doors for people often excluded from formal employment. Its commitment to women’s empowerment, disability inclusion, worker welfare, occupational safety, and ethical labor practices reflects the deeper social value of responsible manufacturing.
The milestone further positions Northshore Apparel as a practical private-sector partner in Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy agenda. As an export-oriented manufacturing company with capacity for shift-based production, large-scale employment, and continuous productivity, Northshore represents the kind of industrial investment that can make the 24-Hour Economy visible, measurable, and impactful.
With the right policy support, buyer partnerships, and stakeholder engagement, the company can contribute to round-the-clock production, higher export earnings, local economic stimulation, and job creation across multiple shifts. This aligns directly with the government’s ambition to expand productivity, create decent employment, and transform Ghana into a more competitive manufacturing and export economy.
For Savelugu and the Northern Region, the certification is also a story of image transformation. It signals that world-class manufacturing need not be confined to Ghana’s traditional industrial centers. It demonstrates that Northern Ghana can host export-ready, ethically certified, and globally competitive manufacturing facilities that meet international brands’ expectations.
The certification therefore marks a new chapter not only for Northshore Apparel but also for Ghana’s industrial development story. It shows that with the right investment, systems, leadership, and workforce discipline, local industries can meet global standards while creating jobs, empowering communities, and contributing to national development.
As global apparel brands continue to demand verifiable supply chain responsibility, Northshore Apparel’s WRAP certification gives Ghana a stronger voice in the ethical sourcing conversation. It signals to the world that quality apparel can be made responsibly, inclusively, and competitively from Savelugu.
Northshore Apparel GH LTD says it is ready to welcome current and prospective partners to its Savelugu facility as it continues to expand its contributions to responsible manufacturing, youth employment, inclusive growth, and Ghana’s export-led industrial transformation.
