The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has dismissed attempts by political opponents to take credit for ongoing infrastructure projects, insisting that the government’s priority is to complete abandoned works for the benefit of citizens.
He stressed that the current administration under President John Dramani Mahama remains committed to development continuity, regardless of which government originally initiated a project.
Speaking during a road inspection tour in the North East Region, Mr. Agbodza said Ghana must move beyond political disputes over project ownership and focus instead on delivering results.
“I have heard some politicians sitting at home, after having eight years in office and doing very little about these issues, now trying to list what they claim to have achieved, while accusing others of taking advantage,” he said.
“It does not matter who started what. What matters is completing projects for the benefit of the Ghanaian people.
“If you had eight years and did very little, and now, by the grace of God, President Mahama has been given another opportunity, allow him the space to fix what you were unable to fix within that period,” he added.
The Minister maintained that the era of political credit-taking must give way to a results-driven approach that prioritises national development over partisan interests.
