Ghana have suffered another setback ahead of their September-October international assignments, with forward Antoine Semenyo withdrawing from the Black Stars squad.
According to 3Sports, the Manchester City forward has been ruled out after suffering a swollen ankle, meaning he will miss Ghana’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Côte d’Ivoire.
Semenyo had made an impressive start to the season and was expected to play an important role in Ghana’s attack. His withdrawal adds to the growing list of players unavailable to head coach Carlos Queiroz for the upcoming international window.
The Black Stars are also without key players including Mohammed Kudus and Thomas Partey, further limiting Queiroz’s options as Ghana prepare for two crucial qualifiers.
Ghana will travel to Bouaké to face Côte d’Ivoire before returning home to play The Gambia. The matches will be closely watched as the Black Stars begin their campaign to secure a place at the 2027 AFCON after missing out on the previous tournament, ending a long run of qualification.
