President John Dramani Mahama’s performance has received a 72 per cent approval rating among Ghanaians, according to the latest poll by Global InfoAnalytics.
The Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, disclosed the findings during an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Wednesday, August 12.
He explained that the rating reflects respondents’ assessment of President Mahama’s personal performance in office.
“Seventy-two per cent of Ghanaians approved his performance. Twenty-one per cent disapproved, and seven per cent had no opinion,” Dankwah said, describing the approval rating as “very high.”
The Upper West Region recorded the highest approval rating, with 92 per cent of respondents approving of the President’s performance. It was followed by the Volta Region with 88 per cent.
The Northern Region recorded 72 per cent approval, while the Eastern Region recorded 71 per cent.
The lowest approval ratings were recorded in the Ashanti Region, at 56 per cent, and the North East Region, at 59 per cent.
The survey was based on 7,700 completed interviews and has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.5 percentage points. It was conducted between July 15 and 24, 2026.
Global InfoAnalytics says the poll will serve as the baseline for a tracking exercise that will be conducted periodically ahead of the 2028 general elections.
On the broader state of the country, 60 per cent of respondents said Ghana was heading in the right direction, while 28 per cent believed the country was moving in the wrong direction.
The poll also found that 53 per cent of respondents felt their standard of living had improved compared with a year earlier, while 19 per cent said their living conditions had worsened.
