Arsenal Win Premier League as Final Day Delivers Mixed Fortunes Across the Table

Arsenal have been crowned Premier League champions after a decisive final day of the season that also saw European qualification secured for Sunderland and Bournemouth, while West Ham United were relegated and Tottenham Hotspur survived the drop.

Martin Ødegaard, the Arsenal captain, lifted the trophy at the Emirates Stadium as the club ended a long wait for league success under manager Mikel Arteta. Arsenal spent much of the season at the top of the table and managed to hold off competition to secure the title.

The season was not without criticism for Arsenal, with some observers questioning their style of play and heavy reliance on set-piece goals. However, the team remained consistent throughout the campaign, particularly in defence, and adapted to injuries affecting key players such as Bukayo Saka, Ødegaard and Leandro Trossard.

Arsenal also showed strong form in tight matches, winning several games by narrow margins, which proved important in the title race. Despite criticism at various points, they maintained stability during crucial stages of the season.

Elsewhere, Sunderland earned a place in the Europa League after a 2–1 victory over Chelsea at the Stadium of Light. Goals from Trai Hume and an own goal by Chelsea’s Malo Gusto secured a historic finish for the newly promoted side, who will return to European competition for the first time in decades.

Bournemouth also achieved European qualification after drawing 1–1 with Nottingham Forest. The result confirmed their place in the Europa League, marking a significant milestone for the club after a strong season under manager Andoni Iraola.

Liverpool secured Champions League qualification despite a 1–1 draw with Brentford at Anfield, finishing in the final top-five position to ensure European football next season.

At the other end of the table, Tottenham Hotspur avoided relegation with a narrow win over Everton, a result that secured their Premier League status after a difficult season and a mid-year managerial change.

West Ham United were relegated despite winning their final match 3–0 against Leeds United. The result was not enough to change their position, and the club will leave the Premier League after a disappointing campaign.

Captain Jarrod Bowen expressed disappointment after the match, saying the team had not done enough over the season to avoid the drop.

The final day of the season reflected a wide range of outcomes across the league, with Arsenal celebrating the title, several clubs achieving European qualification, and others facing relegation or rebuilding ahead of the next season.
