The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pledged not to interfere with investigations into sexual misconduct allegations against Zakaria Abdulai, the interdicted headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School and a former Juaben constituency secretary of the party.
NDC General Secretary Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey said the party would accept the outcome of the investigations and would not protect Abdulai if he is found guilty.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, October 22, 2026, Kwetey called on law enforcement agencies to conduct an independent investigation to establish the facts of the case.
He stressed that Abdulai must face the full consequences of the law if found culpable, while the party would welcome a decision clearing him of the allegations.
“If he’s found guilty, he’ll pay the highest price. If he’s not guilty, we’ll be happy for him. So we want the law enforcement to do its own job,” he said.
The comments follow an exposé by investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni, which brought the allegations against the headmaster into the public domain.
The case is under investigation, with the docket reportedly forwarded to the Attorney-General for further action.
Abdulai has been interdicted from his position as headmaster and has also resigned as Juaben NDC constituency secretary amid the controversy.
The NDC’s position comes as investigations continue to determine the facts of the allegations and establish whether any criminal wrongdoing occurred.
