South African coach Erik Tinkler has left Asante Kotoko with immediate effect after just four matches in charge of the club.
The club confirmed the decision following its 2–0 defeat to Aduana FC in Matchday 4 of the Ghana Premier League.
Tinkler, who was appointed as the club’s permanent head coach at the start of the season after replacing Karim Zito, requested to be released from his contract for personal reasons.
In a statement, Asante Kotoko said the Board of Directors had engaged Tinkler in discussions in an effort to prevent his departure at this stage, but ultimately respected his decision.
The club said professionalism, commitment and full concentration remain essential to achieving its set performance targets.
Asante Kotoko thanked Tinkler for his professionalism and commitment during his short spell and wished him well in his future endeavours.
The club added that its technical team will continue with its sporting plans under the leadership of Director of Football Stanley Purl Menzo.
