The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed rumours of an impending change in its parliamentary leadership, insisting that no discussions have been held on the matter.
The party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, said the NPP had neither considered nor deliberated on replacing the leadership of the Minority Caucus in Parliament.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Mr Kodua Frimpong described the reports as attempts to create confusion within the party’s parliamentary ranks.
“Let me state it categorically; the party has never had any meeting. The party has never thought about even deliberating to change the leadership in parliament. We have not,” he said.
He added that the party was satisfied with the performance of the Minority Caucus, led by Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and remained committed to supporting its leadership ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Mr Kodua Frimpong said the party’s leadership, including its electoral officers and Chairman John Boadu, was pleased with the work being done by the caucus.
He stressed that the NPP would continue to support the parliamentary leadership as it worked alongside the party and its flagbearer towards winning the 2028 elections.
The General Secretary urged party members to disregard speculation about a possible reshuffle, warning that such claims could create unnecessary divisions within the Minority Caucus.
“So please kindly discard any notion by anyone who is trying to create needless confusion within the ranks of our minority group in parliament,” he added.
