Carlos Queiroz Bids Emotional Farewell to Ghana After World Cup Exit

Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has officially said goodbye to Ghana after the team’s FIFA World Cup campaign came to an end, leaving Ghanaians with a heartfelt message of gratitude, reflection and hope for the future.

Following Ghana’s elimination from the tournament, the Portuguese coach took to social media to thank the nation for the opportunity to lead the Black Stars, saying his time with the team had been both an honour and a privilege.

Reflecting on the journey, Queiroz acknowledged that although the team fell short of its ultimate goal, there were valuable lessons to take from the experience.

“Football, like life, teaches us one timeless lesson: you either win or you learn,” he wrote.

He said he was proud of what the Black Stars achieved during his time in charge but admitted he had always hoped to accomplish even more.

“I leave this journey with pride in what we achieved, but also with the healthy dissatisfaction of those who always wanted more. Reaching a higher level should never be the destination, it should be the beginning of even greater ambitions,” he said.

Queiroz also called for greater investment in the structures that support the national team, insisting Ghana’s long-term success depends on more than performances on the pitch.

According to him, creating the right environment to prepare, protect and develop the country’s football talent is essential if the Black Stars are to compete consistently at the highest level.

The former coach thanked the Ghana Football Association’s leadership for the confidence they placed in him and expressed appreciation to his players and technical staff for their dedication and commitment throughout the campaign.

He also reserved special praise for Ghanaian supporters, acknowledging their passion despite the disappointment of the World Cup exit.

While admitting the campaign did not end as everyone had hoped, Queiroz said the team succeeded in restoring the Black Stars’ respect and credibility on football’s biggest stage.

He ended his farewell message on a hopeful note, thanking Ghanaians for their support and expressing confidence that the team’s future remains bright.

Queiroz’s departure marks the end of his tenure as Black Stars head coach following the expiration of his contract after Ghana’s World Cup campaign.
