All Power Generation Units Restored After Nationwide Disruption – Energy Minister

Energy and Green Transition Minister John Abdulai Jinapor has announced that all power generation units affected by the recent electricity disruption have been fully restored and are back in service.

In a Facebook post shared on Friday, May 1, the Minister said the national power system had now been stabilised following intensive efforts by engineers and emergency response teams who worked continuously to restore supply across affected areas.

According to him, the successful recovery of the system was made possible through the dedication, professionalism and sacrifice of technicians, engineers and operational staff who worked under difficult conditions to bring the national grid back to normal.

Dr Jinapor praised the commitment shown by the teams involved, describing their response as a strong display of discipline, patriotism and resilience at a critical moment for the country’s energy sector.

He also commended the management and staff of major state power institutions, including the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), for their swift coordination and cooperation during the restoration process.

The Minister noted that the collaboration among the agencies played a key role in ensuring the stability of the power system and minimising the impact of the disruption on consumers.

Dr Jinapor added that the successful restoration demonstrated Ghana’s ability to rely on the expertise and resilience of its professionals during periods of national challenge.

He ended his message with prayers for the country, the energy sector and all engineers working to keep the nation powered.
