IGP Dampare Warns Against Electoral Malfeasance Ahead of December Polls

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has issued a stern warning to the public against engaging in any form of electoral malfeasance as the December elections draw near, cautioning that offenders will face the full rigours of the law.

Speaking at the inauguration of a new police station in Akyem-Manso, in the Eastern Region, Dr. Dampare assured Ghanaians of the police service’s preparedness to ensure peaceful elections. He outlined strategies to address and mitigate any potential disturbances during the electoral process.

“Do not allow yourselves to be lured into creating confusion during the polls because my officers will not spare you. Remember, those who incite you to cause trouble will switch off their phones and abandon you when you are arrested,” he warned.

The IGP emphasized the importance of respecting Ghana’s democratic principles, urging citizens to exercise their voting rights peacefully.

“We are fully prepared, and I can assure you that the elections will be peaceful,” Dr. Dampare stated, reiterating the police force’s commitment to maintaining law and order and fostering a secure environment for free and fair elections.

He also called on all Ghanaians to support efforts to uphold the integrity of the electoral process, stressing the collective responsibility required to safeguard Ghana’s democracy.
