The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has destooled the Paramount Chief of Kenyase No. 2, Nana Kwabena Nsia Ababio, for breaching the customs and traditions of the Asante Kingdom.
The decision was announced during a meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council held on Monday, July 27, 2026, where the chief was found to have violated his traditional obligations.
In addition to the Paramount Chief’s removal, nearly all of his kingmakers were also destooled after being found to have breached the oath of office they swore to uphold.
However, Otumfuo exercised clemency in some instances. The Kontihene was spared from punishment, while the previously destooled Akyeame and other linguists serving within the traditional council were reinstated to their positions.
The latest sanctions underscore the Asantehene’s commitment to upholding discipline, accountability, and strict adherence to the customs and traditions that govern the Asante Kingdom.
