Lamine Yamal Wins Third Consecutive Kopa Trophy

Barcelona and Spain forward Lamine Yamal has won the 2026 Men’s Young Talent of the Year award, securing his third consecutive Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in London on Monday.

The 19-year-old made history by becoming the first player to win the men’s award three years in a row since the trophy was introduced in 2018.

Yamal first claimed the honour in 2024 at the age of 17 before retaining it in 2025. His latest victory follows another impressive campaign with Barcelona, during which he helped the club retain the La Liga title.

The Spain international emerged ahead of nine other nominees, including Barcelona teammate Pau Cubarsí, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery and Yan Diomande.

His continued success reflects his growing influence at Barcelona, where he has established himself as a key attacking player through his creativity, pace and ability to influence matches despite his young age.

Yamal’s third Kopa Trophy also adds to Barcelona’s record in the award. Previous winners from the club include midfielders Pedri and Gavi.

The Kopa Trophy, named after former France international Raymond Kopa, recognises the best young footballer in the world. Past recipients include Kylian Mbappé, Matthijs de Ligt, Jude Bellingham, Pedri and Gavi.

With three consecutive wins already to his name, Yamal continues to build an impressive collection of individual honours as he develops his career with Barcelona and Spain.
