NPP’s New Executives Won’t Affect NDC’s 2028 Plans – Tanko-Computer

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed the outcome of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) national executive elections, saying the newly elected leadership will have little impact on its preparations for the 2028 general elections.

NDC Deputy Director of Elections and Information Technology, Rashid Tanko-Computer, said the party remains focused on strengthening its own structures and selecting leaders capable of advancing its agenda ahead of the next elections.

Speaking in a media interview on Saturday, October 3, following the NPP’s national executive elections, Tanko-Computer said the governing party had expected the NPP to produce a stronger leadership team capable of mounting a serious challenge in 2028.

He, however, said the outcome of the election did not meet those expectations and would not change the NDC’s strategy.

“They have missed a glorious opportunity to give us a run for our money because the kind of officers I was expecting them to bring, they didn’t. This will not even impact anything due to the way we choose our leaders,” he said.

Tanko-Computer pointed to the NDC’s leadership selection process, citing the party’s preparations for the 2024 general elections as an example of how it builds its organisational structures.

He also compared the newly elected NPP executives with the NDC’s current national officers, expressing confidence that Ghanaians would favour the NDC if given a choice between the two parties.

“Even currently, if you look at the officers that they have elected and our national officers currently, put them side by side and ask Ghanaians to vote for a party that will mean business and that will bring something on the table for them, and they will definitely go for the NDC,” he added.
