I am a winning coach – Carlos Queiroz

Ghana’s new head coach, Carlos Queiroz, has wasted no time in outlining his philosophy, declaring that his mission with the Black Stars is centered purely on winning.

Addressing the media for the first time on Thursday, the Portuguese trainer brushed aside conversations about whether his team will play attacking or defensive football, stressing that such labels are secondary to results.

“I am a winning coach. I don’t understand that thing of defend or attack,” he said.

Queiroz explained that his approach is built on unity and hard work, particularly when the team is without the ball. He noted that players must be ready to fight, endure difficult moments, and quickly regain possession to create scoring chances.

“When we don’t have the ball, we have to fight together, sacrifice, suffer to recover it as fast as possible,” he stated.

The former Real Madrid boss is set to begin his tenure with an international friendly against Wales in Cardiff on May 2, a match that will serve as his first test in charge.

For Queiroz, the objective is straightforward and universal.

“In Ghana and everywhere else, football is about one thing to win,” he concluded.
