‘Ghanaians Are Behind You’ – Vice President Opoku-Agyemang Rallies Black Stars Ahead of Panama Clash

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has encouraged Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, to remain united and give their all as they continue their campaign at the FIFA World Cup.

The Vice President delivered the message during a visit to the team’s training camp in Toronto, Canada, where she led a delegation of distinguished Ghanaians ahead of Ghana’s opening fixture against Panama.

Addressing the players, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang assured them of the unwavering support of Ghanaians both at home and across the diaspora.

“Ghana is rooting for you, regardless of where people are whether in the diaspora, on farms, or at home. The entire nation is behind you,” she told the team.

She praised the players for their efforts so far and urged them to strive for even greater success on the global stage.

“We know you are doing well, and we know you will excel. But I want you to go even higher. Every mother wants her child to be the very best they can be and to exceed expectations even when they believe they have reached their goal. That is why we are here to encourage you to do more,” she said.

The Vice President also highlighted the importance of teamwork, describing unity and cooperation as essential ingredients for success in football and in life.

“You often hear about group work, and that spirit of cooperation is crucial in sports. No matter how talented you are individually, you become stronger when you work with others. And when you help make your teammates stronger, the entire team benefits and succeeds,” she added.

Ghana will take on Panama on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 11:00 PM GMT, as the Black Stars seek a positive start to their World Cup campaign.
