Ghana Secures 2026 World Cup Broadcast Rights for Nationwide Live Coverage

Ghanaian football fans can look forward to watching every match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup live after the government successfully secured broadcasting rights for the tournament through a joint effort involving state support and corporate fundraising.

The announcement was made by Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, during the presentation of a GH¢5 million donation from GCB Bank towards the Black Stars fundraising campaign.

According to the minister, the combined support from government and private institutions has ensured that the World Cup will be televised on selected media platforms across Ghana, giving football lovers nationwide access to the tournament.

“Through the support of government and fundraising efforts, we have been able to secure broadcast rights to telecast the World Cup matches live on some of the media stations,” Kofi Adams said.

The contribution from GCB Bank forms part of a wider national fundraising initiative launched to support the Black Stars ahead of the tournament. The campaign seeks to encourage corporate organisations, institutions, and other stakeholders to contribute towards the team’s preparations for the global competition.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico, will be historic as it becomes the first edition of the tournament to feature 48 participating nations.
