Ghanaian nurses set to work in Saint Kitts and Nevis will benefit from enhanced salaries and improved conditions of service under a new bilateral labour agreement between the two countries.
The agreement guarantees the nurses legally protected salaries, health insurance, rent allowances, end-of-service benefits and other labour rights.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, signed the agreement with the Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Dr Geoffrey Hanley, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Mr Ablakwa commended Ghanaian professionals for their contribution to countries around the world, noting that their expertise continues to attract demand internationally.
He said the government would continue to pursue what he described as “impactful diplomacy” that delivers direct benefits to Ghanaians.
“Ghana will continue to pursue impactful diplomacy which benefits the people we serve,” he said.
The minister also reaffirmed the strong relations between Ghana and Saint Kitts and Nevis.
