Nii Lante Vanderpuye has resigned as National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) to pursue a national executive position within the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a statement announcing his resignation, Vanderpuye said the decision was informed by his desire to continue serving both the party and the country in a different capacity while contributing to the growth of Ghana’s democratic institutions.
“This decision is driven by my desire to continue serving our party and country in a different capacity, while contributing to the strengthening of our democratic traditions and institutions,” he stated.
His resignation follows recent comments made during an interview on Citi Eyewitness News, where he revealed his readiness to contest for the NDC National Chairmanship should the party’s current National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, decide not to seek re-election.
Vanderpuye expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to lead the DRIP initiative, describing his tenure as a privilege and a rewarding experience.
Reflecting on his time in office, he highlighted the programme’s contribution to improving local road infrastructure and supporting development efforts in communities across the country.
“It has been a great honour and privilege to serve as National Coordinator of a programme dedicated to transforming local infrastructure and improving livelihoods across our communities,” he said.
Despite stepping down from the position, Vanderpuye stressed that he remains committed to the vision of the Mahama administration and the core values of the NDC. He indicated that his resignation should not be interpreted as a departure from public service but rather a transition into a new role of service.
He also thanked staff, stakeholders and development partners who supported the implementation of the DRIP programme and expressed confidence that the initiative would continue to make a positive impact under new leadership.
“I remain fully committed to the vision of President Mahama’s administration and the core values of the National Democratic Congress,” he affirmed.
