President Mahama to Hold High-Level Talks with Belarusian President as Ghana Seeks New Economic Partnerships

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to hold bilateral talks with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko today as part of his official visit to Belarus aimed at strengthening economic, agricultural, and technical cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions, scheduled to take place at the Presidential Palace in Minsk, will be followed by a high-level meeting involving officials from both nations. The engagement is also expected to culminate in the signing of four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering areas of mutual interest.

President Mahama’s visit, which began last week at the invitation of President Lukashenko, forms part of efforts to deepen relations and explore new opportunities for trade, investment, agriculture, and technology transfer.

Later in the day, the Ghanaian leader will address a Ghana-Belarus Business Forum at the Presidential Hotel in Minsk. The forum will bring together government officials, business leaders, and investors from both countries to discuss potential partnerships and investment opportunities.

The Ghanaian delegation includes representatives from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, as well as key private sector players.

Over the weekend, President Mahama visited Savushkin Product, one of Belarus’s largest agro-processing companies, where he observed modern food production processes and explored opportunities for collaboration in Ghana’s agro-industrial sector.

He also toured the Belagro Agricultural Exhibition, where he was introduced to a variety of agricultural machinery, mechanisation technologies, food processing equipment, and innovative farming solutions.

Accompanying the President on the trip are Presidential Advisor and Special Aide Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Food and Agriculture Eric Opoku, Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations) Stan Xoese Dogbe, and Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim.

The visit is expected to strengthen Ghana’s cooperation with Belarus and open new avenues for economic growth, agricultural development, and technology exchange.
