Parliament has confirmed the detention of the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Kwame Ohene Frimpong, at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
In a statement issued by the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, the House disclosed that it is currently working closely with Ghana’s diplomatic mission in The Hague to gather detailed information surrounding the incident.
According to the statement, the Rt. Hon. Speaker and Parliamentary leadership have already engaged the Ghana Mission in the Netherlands as efforts continue to establish the circumstances leading to the detention of the Independent MP.
“It has come to the attention of Parliament that the Hon. Member for Asante Akyem North Constituency, Mr. Kwame Ohene Frimpong, has been detained at Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam in the Netherlands,” the statement noted.
Parliament further assured the public that updates would be provided as soon as more information becomes available on the matter
