PSG Sweep Major UNFP Awards as Dembélé and Doué Shine in Dominant Season

Paris Saint-Germain reinforced their grip on French football on Monday night after emerging as the biggest winners at the 34th UNFP Awards ceremony held at the Palais Brongniart in Paris.

From individual brilliance to team excellence, PSG stars dominated the evening across both the men’s and women’s categories, capping off another outstanding domestic campaign for the French champions.

Leading the celebrations was Ousmane Dembélé, who was crowned Ligue 1 Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. The French winger has enjoyed another sensational campaign and added the prestigious league honour to a year that has already seen him win both the Ballon d’Or and FIFA’s “The Best” award.

Dembélé has been one of the standout performers in Ligue 1 this season, registering 10 goals and six assists while averaging a goal contribution every 60 minutes  the best ratio in the division. His influence has been crucial to PSG’s dominance throughout the campaign.

The 28-year-old also claimed the Goal of the Season award for his stunning effort against Lille OSC on January 16. In PSG’s 3-0 victory at the Parc des Princes, Dembélé produced a moment of magic, weaving past defenders before delicately lifting the ball over the goalkeeper in one of the most memorable goals of the season.

PSG’s strength was further reflected in the Player of the Year shortlist, with teammates Vitinha and Nuno Mendes also nominated alongside Dembélé. Remarkably, it marked the tenth straight year a PSG player has been among the finalists for the award.

Another major honour went to Désiré Doué, who was named Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. The 20-year-old continues to establish himself as one of Europe’s brightest young talents following an impressive season filled with creativity and attacking flair.

Doué has recorded seven goals and five assists in 21 league appearances this season and recently celebrated his 100th appearance for PSG by scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory over Stade Brestois 29.

The club’s rising talent pool was again highlighted with João Neves and Warren Zaïre-Emery also earning nominations in the young player category.

PSG’s women’s team also enjoyed recognition at the awards, with three players named in the Arkema Première Ligue Team of the Season.

Romée Leuchter earned her place after finishing as the league’s top scorer with 18 goals and seven assists. Sakina Karchaoui was rewarded for another energetic and influential season that produced six goals and three assists, while defender Griedge Mbock was recognised for her commanding performances at the back as PSG recorded 12 clean sheets during the campaign.

In the Ligue 1 Team of the Season, PSG had five players selected in the starting XI. Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes and Willian Pacho were included in defence, Vitinha secured a midfield spot, while Dembélé led the attack.

With the best attack and strongest defence in Ligue 1 this season, PSG’s overwhelming presence at the UNFP Awards once again highlighted the club’s continued supremacy in French football.
