Former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has called on Ghanaians to channel their frustrations through their votes in the upcoming general elections on December 7, 2024. He urged citizens to vote massively against the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) rather than resorting to confrontation or verbal altercations.
Addressing the people of the Guan constituency, Mr. Ampofo emphasized that the constituency has faced underdevelopment due to the government’s failure to ensure their representation in Parliament during the 2020 elections, a situation that persists as the 2024 elections approach.
“People of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Lipke, and Lolobi must vote with unwavering resolve. I expect nothing less than 100% voter turnout for the NDC, and if possible, more. Your anger should not result in fighting or insults; instead, let it guide your thumb to the ballot box on December 7, 2024,” he stated.
Mr. Ampofo urged the constituents to channel their discontent by voting for former President John Dramani Mahama to return as President of Ghana. He underscored the developmental setbacks caused by the absence of parliamentary representation, noting that having a Member of Parliament would have provided access to the MP’s share of the common fund, which could have been used to enhance local development.
“The government has denied you your right to representation and the corresponding development. An MP would have received annual allocations from the common fund to supplement district-level initiatives to improve the constituency,” he added.
Mr. Ampofo’s remarks form part of the NDC’s ongoing efforts to rally support and address grievances ahead of the 2024 elections.
