Trump to Join Infantino in Presenting 2026 World Cup Trophy to Champions

United States President Donald Trump will take part in the trophy presentation ceremony for the winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, according to FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Speaking on the Fox & Friends television programme, Infantino revealed that Trump will attend the tournament’s final on July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium and will join him in presenting the trophy to the victorious team.

“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino said.

The announcement underscores the growing relationship between FIFA and the U.S. administration as the United States plays a central role in hosting the expanded 2026 World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico.

Trump’s appearance at the final will not be his first involvement in a major FIFA trophy ceremony. In 2025, he attended the FIFA Club World Cup final at the same venue in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where he joined players on the podium following the championship celebrations.

The New York New Jersey Stadium is one of the tournament’s flagship venues and is hosting eight matches, including the final. FIFA expects the showpiece event to attract a packed stadium and a global television audience of billions.

Since returning to office, Trump has frequently attended major sporting events across the United States, including the U.S. Open men’s final, the Ryder Cup and NBA Finals fixtures in the New York metropolitan area.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is the largest in the competition’s history, featuring an expanded format and jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
