Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has initiated legal proceedings against broadcaster and musician Blakk Rasta, accusing him of defamation following comments made publicly about the artiste.
In a press release issued on January 19, 2026, management of the African Dancehall King, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, confirmed that the decision was taken after a series of statements were made which they say were false and damaging to his reputation.
The statement emphasized that while Shatta Wale supports freedom of expression and recognizes the media’s role in public debate, such freedoms must be exercised with responsibility.
According to management, the lawsuit is intended to protect the artiste’s integrity and professional standing, as well as to promote accountability within Ghana’s media and broadcasting space.
With the case now before the courts, Shatta Wale and his team have opted to remain silent on the matter publicly, allowing due process to take its course. They expressed confidence in the judicial system to address the issues raised.
Management further assured fans and industry partners that the legal action will not interfere with the artiste’s musical career, noting that Shatta Wale remains focused on his projects and contributions to the entertainment industry.
