Ghana’s Parliament will resume sittings on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, following the issuance of a Constitutional Instrument by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin. The instrument officially marks the commencement of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
In accordance with Article 112(1) of the 1992 Constitution, the Speaker exercised his constitutional authority to designate both the venue and time for the resumption. Parliament House in Accra has been appointed as the place for the sitting, with proceedings scheduled to begin promptly at 12 noon on the stated date.
The formal declaration, signed on January 19, 2026, underscores Parliament’s readiness to continue its legislative and oversight responsibilities after the recess. The resumption is expected to see lawmakers return to the chamber to deliberate on key national issues, consider bills, and scrutinize government policies and actions.
As the Second Session begins, expectations are high that Parliament will intensify efforts toward lawmaking, accountability, and representation in line with the democratic mandate of the Ninth Parliament, contributing to governance and national development in the Fourth Republic.
