NDC Renames National Headquarters After Jerry John Rawlings

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially renamed its national headquarters in Accra as the Jerry John Rawlings House, in honour of the party’s founder and former President, Jerry John Rawlings.

The announcement was made on Monday, June 22, 2026, during a commemorative event marking the birthday of the late statesman. The ceremony brought together party executives, members, supporters and dignitaries to celebrate Rawlings’ contribution to the NDC and Ghana’s democratic journey.

Speaking at the event, the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, said the decision was intended to permanently recognise the legacy of the party’s founding leader.

He announced that the party’s headquarters would officially bear Rawlings’ name and that all official documents and correspondence would be updated to reflect the change.

“On this 22nd day of June 2026, we declare the headquarters of the National Democratic Congress as Jerry John Rawlings House. From today, all our letterheads will be reprinted with the name Jerry John Rawlings House, and our address will change to J.J. Rawlings House,” he stated.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah expressed gratitude to party members and supporters for their continued commitment to the ideals of the NDC and paid tribute to the enduring influence of Rawlings on the party’s growth and development.

The renaming forms part of efforts by the governing party to preserve and institutionalise the legacy of Jerry John Rawlings, who remains one of the most influential figures in Ghana’s political history and is widely regarded as the architect of the NDC.
