Gov’t targets US$12bn investment pipeline to create jobs, boost production

The government is looking to turn nearly US$12 billion in announced and pipeline investments into actual businesses, increased production and jobs.

Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare says Ghana’s investment strategy must go beyond attracting capital and focus on what those investments deliver for the economy.

Speaking at the launch of the 2025 Annual Investment Report, she said investors must help expand production, strengthen local businesses, deepen value chains and create jobs for Ghanaians.

Ghana attracted about US$2.6 billion in foreign direct investment in 2025, covering more than 250 new projects and existing businesses, with significant reinvestment from companies already operating in the country.

The Minister said this continued investment shows growing confidence in Ghana’s economic prospects, but stressed that the real measure of success is the economic impact created.

She also pointed to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), saying Ghanaian businesses must improve efficiency, meet international standards and increase production if the country is to take full advantage of regional markets.

According to her, investments must ultimately leave a visible footprint through higher production, stronger Ghanaian businesses, productive jobs and greater access to African and international markets.
