ADB Congratulates Prof. Denis Aheto on Appointment as UCC Vice Chancellor

The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) PLC has extended warm congratulations to Professor Denis Ahetoon his appointment as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), describing the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of his distinguished academic leadership, commitment to excellence, and dedication to student development.

The congratulatory message was delivered during a courtesy call by the Deputy Managing Director in charge of Services (DMD Services), Professor Ferdinand Ahiakpor,to the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, where the Bank presented a commemorative portrait in his honour as a symbol of appreciation and confidence in his leadership.

At the presentation, the ADB DMD Services commended Prof. Aheto’s remarkable contributions to academia, research, and institutional development, noting that his extensive experience and visionary leadership position him strongly to steer the university into a new era of growth and innovation.

“Professor Denis Aheto’s appointment comes at a critical time when higher education institutions must adapt to evolving global realities. His proven commitment to academic excellence, student success, and impactful research gives confidence that UCC will continue to strengthen its position as one of Africa’s leading universities,” the DMD Services said.

The DMD Services, who is an economics professor and a former lecturer of UCC, expressed optimism that under Prof. Aheto’s stewardship, the university would deepen its research capabilities, expand industry collaborations, embrace innovative learning approaches, and further enhance the quality of graduates produced for national development.

“The university has gained a leader with a proven commitment to academic excellence and student growth,” he stated. “May your tenure bring bold innovation, stronger research, and a legacy that elevates Ghana’s higher education,” the ADB DMD Services added.

Professor Ahiakpor reaffirmed ADB’s commitment tostrategic partnerships engender support for education and human capital development initiatives across Ghana, stressing that investments in knowledge, innovation, and youth empowerment remain essential to the country’s long-term progress.

In his remarks, Prof. Aheto expressed appreciation for the gesture and goodwill from ADB, highlighting the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and corporate organizations in advancing research, entrepreneurship, and national development.

ADB wished the Vice Chancellor a successful and impactful tenure, expressing confidence that his leadership would leave a lasting legacy at the University of Cape Coast.

The visit underscored the enduring relationship between ADB and the academic community and reflected the Bank’s continued support for excellence in leadership, education, and national development.

Other ADB management team present included: Papa Arko Ayiah, CAMS – Head of AML and Compliance; Joseph Ahinful Biney, Assistant Area Manager – Central & Western; and Justina Yiadom-Boakye, Branch Manager, ADB UCC Branch.
