Bawumia Charges NPP Executives to Prepare for 2028 Election

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged the party’s newly elected Greater Accra Regional executives to focus on rebuilding the party and preparing it to regain power in the 2028 general elections.

Speaking on Sunday, August 16, after the party’s Greater Accra regional executive elections, Dr Bawumia said the recent elections were part of a broader reorganisation process aimed at strengthening the NPP’s structures across the country.

He said the party’s main objective remains winning the 2028 election and called on the newly elected executives to see their positions as a responsibility rather than simply a political achievement.

“The goal for all of us is to win the 2028 election. This is just a stepping stone towards winning 2028,” he said.

Dr Bawumia noted that the party had already completed its polling station, electoral area, constituency and regional elections, with the national executive elections scheduled for October 10.

According to him, the completion of the reorganisation exercise will give the NPP a stronger organisational structure and put it in a better position to challenge the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2028.

He, however, cautioned the new executives that significant work remained ahead and urged them to fully commit themselves to strengthening the party at all levels.

“At the end of that, the party will be in a good position to have that vehicle that drives us to victory in 2028. So there is a lot of work ahead of us,” Dr Bawumia said.
