The United States has donated military equipment worth $4 million to the Ghana Armed Forces as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s defence and security capabilities.
The donation includes protective gear, radar systems, and training materials aimed at improving the operational readiness of the Ghana Army and Ghana Navy, particularly in the areas of surveillance, communication, and maritime security.
The US Embassy said the support reflects the strong and longstanding security partnership between Ghana and the United States, as both countries continue to work together to address emerging security threats.
“The United States is proud to continue its longstanding security partnership with Ghana through the donation of $4 million in military equipment to the Ghana Armed Forces,” it said.
According to the US, the equipment will enhance the capabilities of Ghana’s military by supporting improved surveillance, communication systems, and operational effectiveness.
“This donation reflects our shared commitment to regional stability, maritime security, and addressing transnational threats,” the statement added.
The latest assistance forms part of ongoing defence cooperation between the two countries, with the aim of improving the Ghana Armed Forces’ preparedness to respond to evolving security challenges within Ghana and the wider West African region.
