The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has joined Members of Parliament and other dignitaries at the UPSA Auditorium for the 14th President John Evans Atta Mills Commemorative Anniversary Lecture.
The event, held under the theme “President John Evans Atta Mills: Fourteen Years On,” brought together political leaders, academics, members of the diplomatic community, and other stakeholders to reflect on the life, leadership, and enduring legacy of the late former President.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia’s presence at the commemorative lecture highlights his continued commitment to preserving the values and ideals championed by President Mills, including humility, integrity, inclusiveness, and service to the Ghanaian people.
Known affectionately as “General Mosquito,” the NDC National Chairman joined party colleagues and sympathisers in paying tribute to a leader whose presidency was marked by a reputation for peace, constitutionalism, and respect for democratic institutions.
The gathering also provided an opportunity for participants to revisit President Mills’ contributions to Ghana’s development and the principles that guided his political journey.
The lecture forms part of activities leading up to the wreath-laying ceremony and memorial service scheduled for today July 24, as the nation continues to remember the former president fourteen years after his passing.
For Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the occasion served as a reminder of the importance of honouring the sacrifices of past leaders while inspiring a new generation to uphold the values that shaped President Mills’ legacy.
