Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has received one million barrels of Ghana’s Jubilee Medium Sweet Crude as part of efforts to strengthen local refining and improve the country’s energy security.
The crude cargo arrived at the refinery aboard the MT Apache on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, providing another major supply of feedstock for Ghana’s only state-owned refinery.
In a statement issued on Thursday, July 16, TOR said the steady supply of crude has been critical in sustaining refinery operations and ensuring a continuous supply of petroleum products.
According to the refinery, the deliveries have enabled it to produce petroleum products for both the domestic and regional markets, while supporting Ghana’s industrialisation agenda and reducing reliance on imported refined products.
The latest shipment is the second consignment of locally produced crude supplied to TOR under the current administration.
Since May 2026, the refinery has received three separate one-million-barrel crude consignments—Bonga, Baleine and now Jubilee Medium Sweet Crude—reflecting what management described as growing momentum in efforts to restore full refining operations.
TOR believes refining more of Ghana’s crude locally will help stabilise fuel supplies, add value to the country’s natural resources and strengthen its ambition of becoming a refining hub for the West African sub-region.
The refinery also commended President John Dramani Mahama for his commitment to reviving the facility and thanked the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, for his role in supporting the refinery’s ongoing recovery.
