The Chiefs and people of the Biakoye Constituency have commended the significant progress achieved since the establishment of the Oti Region, highlighting the initiative as a transformative step toward bringing governance closer to the people.
During a reception for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in Buem, the traditional leaders praised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration for the region’s development under both former President John Agyekum Kufuor and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“The creation of the Oti Region is a monumental achievement that has brought government closer to our people,” the Chiefs declared. They noted that under President Akufo-Addo’s leadership, the region has seen substantial advancements in infrastructure and social services.
The Chiefs also acknowledged the foundation laid during President Kufuor’s tenure, particularly the establishment of a secondary school in the area, which they credited with enhancing educational opportunities for the youth.
Under President Akufo-Addo’s administration, they highlighted the construction of critical road networks, including the Hohoe-Jasikan and Jasikan-Dodi-Pepesu roads, describing them as transformative projects that have improved connectivity and economic activity in the region.
“In the area of health, we recognise the impact of the Agenda 111 initiative, which is enhancing healthcare delivery,” they added.
The Chiefs further commended the government’s investment in education at both local and national levels, citing the construction of classroom and dormitory blocks as well as the implementation of the Free Senior High School and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) policies.
The Biakoye community expressed their gratitude to the NPP government for its continued focus on improving the lives of residents in the Oti Region, urging further collaboration to sustain development in the area.
