Medeama SC delivered a statement performance on Sunday, dismantling Asante Kotoko 4–0 at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium to climb back to the summit of the Ghana Premier League.
From the first whistle, Medeama looked sharper, more purposeful, and fully in control. Their early dominance paid off when a deflected effort broke the deadlock, setting the tone for what would become a one-sided contest. Kelvin Obeng soon doubled the advantage with a commanding header, leaving Kotoko struggling to respond.
Salim Adams then took center stage, scoring twice—once in each half—to cap off a dominant display and secure Man of the Match honours. The emphatic victory pushes Medeama two points clear at the top of the table with just five matches remaining, tightening their grip on the title race.
Elsewhere, FC Samartex 1996 edged Berekum Chelsea 1–0 in a closely fought encounter at Samreboi. Alhassan Mohammed struck early, finishing off a well-crafted move in the eighth minute to give the hosts a crucial lead. Despite Chelsea’s improved second-half performance, Samartex held firm defensively to secure all three points and keep their top-four ambitions alive. Chelsea, meanwhile, remain dangerously close to the relegation zone.
At the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Nations FC boosted their survival hopes with a convincing 2–0 win over Basake Holy Stars. Samuel Tetteh was the hero, netting twice inside the opening ten minutes to give his side a dream start. Nations controlled the game from that point, easing their relegation worries while piling pressure on their opponents.
Karela United and Heart of Lions shared the spoils in a thrilling 2–2 draw at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. Michael Ephson opened the scoring for Lions before Eric Antwi equalised, with both sides heading into halftime level. Lions were reduced to ten men after Ismail Abambila’s dismissal, but still managed to retake the lead through Chauncy Freeman. However, Antwi struck again to ensure Karela salvaged a point in an entertaining contest.
Young Apostles also recorded a vital 1–0 victory over All Blacks at the Wenchi Sports Stadium. Richmond Opoku’s early strike proved decisive, as the hosts held firm under second-half pressure to secure a crucial win in their fight against relegation.
The most dramatic performance of the round came from Dreams FC, who staged a remarkable comeback to thrash Eleven Wonders 5–1. After trailing at halftime, Dreams turned the game on its head with a blistering second-half display. Suraj Seidu scored twice, while John Antwi, Jonathan Nemorden, and Godfred Sarpong all got on the scoresheet to complete a dominant turnaround.
The result lifts Dreams FC into mid-table safety, while Eleven Wonders remain bottom of the table, with relegation now confirmed.
With the season nearing its climax, both the title race and relegation battle continue to intensify, promising a dramatic finish in the weeks ahead.
