Ghana to host Zimbabwe Prez Emmerson Mnangagwa on a Three Days State Visit

The Government of Ghana has announced that Zimbabwe’s President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, will embark on a three-day State Visit to Ghana from April 1 to April 3, 2026, in a move aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two countries.

President Mnangagwa is expected to arrive at the Accra International Airport at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, where he will be officially received by Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama. The arrival ceremony will feature full military honours, including an inspection of a Guard of Honour mounted by the Ghana Armed Forces and a 21-gun salute.

In the evening, President Mahama will host a State Banquet in honour of his Zimbabwean counterpart, underscoring what officials describe as the long-standing friendship between Ghana and Zimbabwe.

According to a statement from the Presidency, “the main event of the visit will be bilateral talks at the Peduase Lodge, preceded by a tête-à-tête between the two leaders.” The discussions are expected to focus on expanding cooperation in key sectors such as trade, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, sanitation, and job creation.

Both leaders will also address shared governance challenges, including the fight against corruption and strategies to tackle unemployment. The talks will culminate in the signing and exchange of several Memoranda of Understanding aimed at boosting collaboration across multiple sectors.

As part of his itinerary, President Mnangagwa will tour the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre and the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant, where he will receive briefings on Ghana’s advancements in healthcare delivery and waste management technologies.

He is also scheduled to visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s founding father, a symbolic gesture reflecting shared African heritage and history.

President Mnangagwa will conclude his visit on Friday with full departure honours at the Jubilee Lounge.

The statement, signed by Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, emphasized that the visit is expected to “further cement the cordial relations between Ghana and Zimbabwe while opening new avenues for cooperation and development.”
