Dancehall star Shatta Wale, known in private life as Charles Nii Armah Mensah, has been detained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over a tax-related investigation concerning a luxury yellow Lamborghini he recently acquired.
In a statement released by his management, the team confirmed that the artist voluntarily reported to EOCO on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 20, accompanied by his lawyer, Cephas Biyuo, to assist with the ongoing inquiry.
The statement explained that the detention is “part of an investigation into possible tax obligations connected to the vehicle.”
Management sought to reassure fans, stressing that Shatta Wale’s legal team is actively engaging with the authorities. “We want to assure fans and the public that his legal team is fully involved and working with EOCO to resolve this matter quickly,” the statement read.
They further appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid unnecessary speculation. “We urge everyone to stay calm and trust the legal process. We have full confidence that this issue will be resolved in due time,” the team added.
Shatta Wale’s management and legal representatives are expected to return to EOCO on Wednesday to continue discussions. The team has promised to provide further updates as the situation unfolds.
