Prez Mahama to Ghanaian Youth: “I See You, I Hear You, and I Believe in Your Potential”

President John Dramani Mahama has delivered an inspiring message to Ghanaian youth during the country’s 69th Independence Day celebration held at the Jubilee House, urging them to take advantage of the opportunities available in the modern digital age.

In his address, the President acknowledged the strength, creativity and potential of young people across the country, assuring them that their voices and aspirations are recognised.

“To the young people of this country, I see you, I hear you, and I believe in your potential,” he said.

According to President Mahama, today’s generation is uniquely positioned to succeed because of access to technology and global opportunities that earlier generations could only imagine.

“You belong to a generation that is armed with tools and opportunities that earlier generations could hardly have imagined,” he noted.

The President highlighted how technology, particularly smartphones, has transformed the way young people learn, work and create opportunities for themselves.

“In your hands, a smartphone transforms into a classroom, a business platform, a creative studio and a gateway to the global economy,” he said.

While acknowledging the immense potential of the youth, President Mahama also recognised the frustrations many young people face, especially in their search for opportunities and employment.

He assured them that government is taking deliberate steps to address these challenges by investing in digital infrastructure and programmes that encourage entrepreneurship and innovation across the country.

According to him, these initiatives are being expanded to several cities including Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi, Ho and Koforidua to ensure that young people everywhere can benefit.

The President also revealed that reforms are underway within the education system to better align it with the needs of the modern economy.

He explained that the government is expanding internship and apprenticeship programmes to help bridge the gap between education and employment.

President Mahama, however, emphasised that while government can create opportunities, personal discipline and determination remain essential for success.

“Success will also depend on discipline, resilience and excellence,” he advised.

He concluded his message with a powerful reminder to the youth about the importance of preparation and hard work.

“The future belongs to those who prepare for it.”
