Prez Mahama: This Is a Time for Unity, Not Division.

President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians to come together in the wake of the fatal military helicopter crash that claimed the life of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and several others.

Speaking in a solemn national address on Thursday, August 7, President Mahama cautioned against division, speculation, or political point-scoring during this period of national grief.

“Let us set aside our differences and offer our collective compassion to the bereaved families. This is not a time for division, speculation, or political point-scoring. It is a time for strength, for empathy, and for the enduring Ghanaian spirit that still stands tall when all else has failed,” he said.

The President called on citizens to ensure their words bring comfort, their actions reflect kindness, and their unity serves as a tribute to those lost.

“To the families, to the Ghana Armed Forces, to the ministries and departments that have lost dedicated staff, and to the National Democratic Congress, which mourns the passing of valued members, may you find strength in their memory and their legacy,” he added.

The tragic crash has cast a shadow over the nation, but President Mahama expressed confidence that Ghana’s resilience will guide the country through its sorrow.
