President John Dramani Mahama has left Accra for New York to attend the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80), which opens on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
He is scheduled to address the General Assembly on Thursday, September 25, and will also host two side events in his capacity as the African Union’s Champion for Financial Institutions.
During his stay, President Mahama will hold bilateral meetings with the UN Secretary-General, several heads of state, and international leaders, including the President of the Rockefeller Foundation. He will also meet the US-Africa Chamber of Commerce and visit NASDAQ, where he is expected to ring the closing bell.
First Lady Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama will join events organised by the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) and deliver a keynote speech at a World Vision International prayer service for children.
The President’s delegation includes Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Executive Secretary Dr. Callistus Mahama, Special Aide Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Deputy Chief of Staff Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Trade Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu, and GIPC Chief Executive Simon Madjie.
The delegation is expected back in Ghana on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
