Nana Agradaa Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison by Accra Court

Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Circuit Court in Accra. Once a well-known traditional priestess who later rebranded herself as an evangelist, Nana Agradaa’s journey from the shrine to the pulpit has now taken a dramatic turn.

The court found her guilty of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence, following a case that gained national attention.

Her conviction stems from a televised broadcast in 2022, where she boldly claimed to have spiritual powers capable of doubling money. Many victims, convinced by her promises, parted with large sums of money in hopes of receiving miraculous financial rewards. Unfortunately, those promises turned out to be false, and the victims never saw their money again.

Before handing down the sentence, the court ordered a mandatory pregnancy test to determine whether the punishment should be postponed. The test confirmed she was not pregnant, clearing the way for the immediate sentencing.

The ruling is being hailed as a significant step in clamping down on fraudulent spiritual schemes and deceptive religious practices that have defrauded countless people across the country.

The case has sparked widespread public conversation, with many commending the court for sending a strong message against individuals who exploit faith and desperation for personal gain.
