Mahama to Wage Fiercest War Yet on Galamsey – Ablakwa

North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says Ghanaians should brace themselves for what he calls an unprecedented onslaught against illegal mining, as President John Dramani Mahama readies to personally lead the charge.

“This will be a fight this country has never witnessed,” Ablakwa declared, emphasising that the President intends to wage a “ruthless and relentless” campaign to stamp out the destructive practice of galamsey.

Ablakwa disclosed that the resolve became clear after a brief but decisive cabinet meeting earlier today. “The President was very clear. There was no ambiguity  he will be leading a war we have never seen to deal with this existential threat once and for all,” he said.

Galamsey, blamed for widespread environmental destruction and the poisoning of major water bodies, has proven stubborn to eradicate despite repeated crackdowns over the years. But Ablakwa’s words suggest that Mahama is preparing to take the fight to a new level  one that will leave no room for half measures or political compromise.
