Ghanaians to Enjoy Bigger Data Bundles from July 1 – Sam George Announces New Packages

From July 1, 2025, Ghanaians will begin to enjoy more data for the same prices as the government has announced increases in data bundle packages across all major mobile network operators MTN, Telecel, and AT.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, June 10, the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Sam George, explained that the move is aimed at improving access to digital services by making data more affordable and accessible to everyone.

According to him, the adjustments are a result of discussions between the government and the telecom companies to respond to public concerns about the high cost of data in the country.

Starting with AT (formerly AT-Tigo Ghana), all data bundles will be increased by 10%. This means customers will get more data for the same amount. For example, the popular GHC400 bundle, which currently gives users 195 gigabytes of data, will now offer 236 gigabytes.

Telecel Ghana is also following suit with a 10% increaseacross all its data packages. But what’s more surprising is the GHC400 bundle, which currently provides just 90 gigabytes. From July 1, that same GHC400 will now give users 250 gigabytes almost three times more than before.

MTN Ghana is offering the biggest increase. Their bundles will go up by 15%. Additionally, the GHC399 bundle, which was recently changed to a GHC350 option offering just 92.88 gigabytes, will now be restored to GHC399 and offer 214 gigabytes.

The Minister emphasized that this new arrangement is part of the government’s broader efforts to support digital inclusion, especially as more Ghanaians rely on the internet for work, education, business, and social connection.

This announcement has been warmly received by many, as calls for cheaper and more generous data packages have grown louder in recent years. With this new development, many hope it signals a new chapter in how telecom services are provided in Ghana one that puts the needs of the people first.
