“Ghana is Back, Ghana is Working again, Ghana Is Open for Business” – President Mahama

President President Mahama as reaffirmed his government’s commitment to economic stability and growth, declaring that Ghana has turned a crucial corner and is ready for accelerated development.

Addressing Parliament during his 2026 State of the Nation Address on Friday, February 27, the President confidently stated that the country’s recovery efforts are beginning to yield tangible results.

“Mr. Speaker, I can say to you with confidence, Ghana is back. Ghana is working again. And Ghana is open for business,” he announced.

President Mahama told lawmakers that his administration deliberately chose fiscal discipline and structural reforms over short-term measures when it assumed office.

“From the outset, we resolved to choose discipline over waste, reform over excuses, and stability over speculation,” he said.

He explained that stabilising public finances was the government’s immediate priority. Measures introduced included tightening expenditure and commitment controls, improving payables reporting, and conducting a comprehensive audit of 2024 commitments.

“As a responsible government, our first order of business was to halt the economic haemorrhaging and restore order to our public finances,” he noted, adding that the steps taken are already producing “some of the most remarkable economic outcomes in decades.”

The President linked the country’s improving outlook to broader national aspirations, especially as Ghana approaches its 69th Independence Anniversary.

“We do so not only with pride in our past, but also with renewed hope for our future,” he said. “We are building prosperity through sound policy, responsible governance, and inclusive growth.”

Highlighting the impact of his flagship programmes, he stated that “The Resetting Ghana Agenda is working. The Accra Reset is gaining momentum,” stressing that the reforms are laying a solid foundation for a stronger and more resilient economy.

In a symbolic conclusion, President Mahama described the nation as being ready for rapid progress.

“Our nation is on the runway. It is in take-off mode. And you are all advised to fasten your seatbelts,” he said, signalling confidence in Ghana’s path toward sustained growth and transformation.
