Family Urges Temporary Withdrawal of NPP Chairman Stephen Ntim Over Health Concerns”

The family of Mr. Stephen Ayensu Ntim, National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has officially requested his temporary withdrawal from all party-related duties due to pressing health concerns.

In a letter dated June 16, 2025, addressed to the Chairman of the NPP Council of Elders, the family expressed grave concern over Mr. Ntim’s current state, citing signs of “cognitive dissonance and mental incapacitation.” They emphasized that continued involvement in party affairs could endanger his well-being and violate his rights.

The letter, which was jointly signed by Kingsley Oteng (Family Head), Adelaide Ntim (MP), and other close relatives, acknowledged Mr. Ntim’s decades of unwavering service to the party, from his role as First National Deputy Chairman to his current position at the helm.

“Steve is not well at the moment,” the family stated, adding that he should be excused from the NPP’s upcoming meeting scheduled for June 17 at the Alisa Hotel, which he was expected to chair.

They further urged the party to show empathy and understanding in this critical moment. “Common sense dictates that Steve, as a matter of urgency, be temporarily excused not only from the rigours of active politics, but from intra-party activities to make way for needed peace and solace and concentration on the ongoing required medical treatment process,” the statement read.

The family appealed to the NPP leadership to prioritise Mr. Ntim’s health and recovery, stressing that his return to active duty should only be considered once he has fully regained his strength.
