ENI to Boost Ghana’s Gas Supply by 30 Million Cubic Feet Starting July 13.

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced a major boost to Ghana’s natural gas supply as part of efforts to enhance energy reliability across the country.

In a statement released on Tuesday, July 9, the Ministry confirmed that ENI, one of Ghana’s key gas suppliers, will increase its supply by 30 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd), starting Sunday, July 13, 2025. This move is expected to raise the total gas supply to 270 MMscfd.

“This strategic upgrade is a key step in bolstering our energy infrastructure and ensuring a reliable energy supply for the nation,” said Richmond Rockson, spokesperson for the Ministry.

As part of the upgrade process, ENI will temporarily suspend gas exports on July 13 to allow for the necessary adjustments. While this may affect the availability of gas for power generation on that day, the Ministry has assured the public that all necessary precautions are in place to minimize any disruptions.

“The Ministry, in collaboration with key stakeholders in the power sector, has proactively implemented comprehensive measures to mitigate any potential disruptions,” the statement noted. These measures include enhanced monitoring of power production and contingency plans to ensure a stable electricity supply during the transition.

The Ministry emphasized that the upgrade is a temporary but essential step to optimize Ghana’s energy supply chain. “We are confident that these proactive steps will effectively manage the transition and maintain a stable power supply for all citizens,” the statement added.

The Ministry also expressed gratitude to the public and stakeholders for their cooperation and understanding, reaffirming its commitment to a stable and sustainable energy future for Ghana.
