Ghana is in mourning following the passing of legendary highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba. The music icon died earlier today, Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness. His family confirmed the news in an official press release.

Daddy Lumba was one of the most celebrated figures in Ghanaian music history. With a career spanning over three decades, he released more than 30 albums and countless hit songs that shaped the highlife genre and influenced generations. His classics—Aben Wo Ha, Sika Asem, Yentie Obiaa, and many more—remain anthems for Ghanaians across all walks of life.
Born in Nsuta Amangoase in the Ashanti Region, Lumba’s music journey began at a young age and eventually led him to stardom both locally and abroad. His ability to blend emotional storytelling with rich melodies made him a household name and a cultural icon.
