Bryant University to Serve as Black Stars’ Training Base for FIFA World Cup 2026

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has selected Providence, Rhode Island, as the Team Base Camp for the Black Stars ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, with Bryant University confirmed as the team’s official training site.

The choice of Bryant University reflects the institution’s modern sporting infrastructure and its capacity to host an elite national team during a global tournament. The university’s 43,000-square-foot field house, along with its advanced training, recovery, and wellness facilities, will support the team’s preparation throughout the competition. Pitch maintenance will be handled by Bryant’s groundskeeping team to ensure top-level playing conditions.

State leaders in Rhode Island have welcomed the partnership, describing it as an opportunity to showcase the state on the international stage. The collaboration is also expected to boost tourism and strengthen the region’s global visibility during the tournament period.

Bryant University’s leadership has expressed pride in the selection, noting that the arrangement highlights the school’s high-quality facilities and its growing international profile. Beyond football preparation, the partnership is seen as a platform for broader engagement and cultural exchange.

Although training sessions will not be open to the general public, organisers plan to introduce community outreach initiatives and youth-focused programmes closer to the tournament. These efforts are intended to inspire young athletes and promote grassroots football development within the region.

Ghana has been drawn in Group L of the 2026 World Cup and will face Panama in Toronto, England in Boston, and Croatia in Philadelphia. The tournament, to be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, will mark Ghana’s fifth appearance on football’s biggest stage.
