ADB MD Applauds UEW for Unveiling Bold 2025–2030 Strategic Plan.

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has taken a major step into the future with the launch of its Fifth Strategic Plan. This move has won high praise from the Managing Director of the Agricultural Development Bank PLC (ADB), Mr. Edward Ato Sarpong.

Chairing the launch event, Mr. Sarpong described the 2025–2030 blueprint as “a bold and forward-looking plan that goes far beyond routine administration.” According to him, the document represents “the heartbeat of institutional growth, innovation, and transformation.”

He stressed that the new roadmap is designed to ensure UEW maintains its leadership in teacher education while expanding its global impact. “This plan will not just sit on shelves; it is a visionary guide to excellence, resilience, and meaningful impact,” he said.

Looking back at UEW’s progress, Mr. Sarpong commended the university for successfully executing four previous strategic plans that transformed the institution’s infrastructure, strengthened governance systems, and enhanced academic and research programmes. He further noted that gains in faculty development, student engagement, and international collaboration had positioned UEW as a centre of innovation.

Calling for broad-based support, the ADB boss urged stakeholders to rally behind the new plan. “If this Strategic Plan is to achieve its noble objectives, then it demands our collective commitment and shared responsibility,” he told participants. “UEW has already proven its capacity to lead in teacher education and research. The next step is to consolidate these gains and project the university onto the global stage.”

Mr. Sarpong also pledged ADB’s continued support for education and human capital development, affirming the bank’s belief that higher education is a critical driver of Ghana’s growth. He commended the drafting team for capturing the aspirations of the UEW community in a document that responds to the fast-changing educational environment.

The launch of the Fifth Strategic Plan signals a new chapter in the university’s journey as it works to produce competent teachers, undertake impactful research, and contribute significantly to shaping education policy both at home and abroad.
